The ancient form of the character looks like a torch so it originally means ‘lampwick’. It is interesting to note that the current form of the character is composed of a dot on wang2 (king). I guess it might be considered as a ‘king’ at a place (a host). It is also a last name. Pronounced: ‘Zhu3′. Source
